Adult trikes are three-wheeled cycling vehicles which are great for a cardio workout. There are many models of adult trikes out there. So, picking a particular model which is suitable for you or your loved ones is not difficult. One needs to consider a few features when it is about choosing an adult tricycle. These features are described below
Body positioning of riders
Depending on the body placement of riders on an adult tricycle, these three-wheeler's come in three different styles. These are recumbent, semi-recumbent and upright. Riders stretched out to some extent while riding tricycles that adopt recumbent and semi-recumbent styles. However, body positioning feels less intense while riding recumbent and semi-recumbent styles tricycles. In the case of upright bikes, hand placement is more comfortable and such sitting positions alleviate the rider’s back pain.
Types of seat

Adult tricycles incorporate two types of the seat in their design. These are saddle seats and sling seats. Saddle seats are wide, comfortable and Upright adult trikes come with such seats. Sitting on a saddle seat allows riders to place both feet firmly on the ground when they need to stop the vehicle. Recumbent and semi-recumbent trikes feature sling seats. The noticeable feature of these seats is that they provide back support to riders. Riders feel more confident while riding the trike sitting on such a style of the seat because the design of the seat eliminates the fear of tipping or losing control.
Types of handlebars

Different models of trikes come in three types of handlebars. These are traditional, chopper or loop handlebars. Most upright trikes incorporate traditional curved handlebars in their design. However, a few models of upright trikes also feature loop or chopper styles of handlebars. Loop handlebars are ideal for people who have unsteady arms or weak hands. The chopper handlebars design has many similarities with traditional handlebars. Like traditional type, this design requires the riders to use body strength and full use of hands, arms, and shoulders while riding a trike.
Weight capacity
The weight capacity of trikes varies from brand to brand. So, weight is an important factor when purchasing a model. The weight of upright trikes varies from 200 to 350 pounds. Recumbent and semi-recumbent trikes are bulky. Their weight limit is as high as 400 pounds. Bariatric trikes are ideal for heavy people. Their weight limit is staggering 500 pounds.
